Advice for your transition
When working with new clients I give them two pieces of information.  In almost every instance though, the stress associated with the move takes over and these two important things are forgotten.
The first is that it doesn’t matter what you paid for something.  It is only worth what someone is willing to spend.  You can read more by clicking on this link.
The second is, this move is going to be stressful.  We are going to tell you not to worry and assure you repeatedly that we can do it but you won’t believe us.  BELIEVE US!!  This is what we do and why the senior move industry exists.
So since we know you won’t believe us, let’s talk about things you can do to minimize the stress rather than worrying.

  1. If possible, get some exercise.
  2. Meditate
  3. Make plans with friends
  4. Stay hydrated
  5. Arrange to have healthy foods made in advance or delivered
  6. Picture yourself in your new home being happy and enjoying an easier life
  7. Make a list and remind yourself why you are moving
  8. What you resist, persists.  Even if you aren’t happy about making the move, embracing it will make it better.
  9. Keep a list of questions and concerns.  Our team or other people involved with your move can help address them.
  10. Go for a massage
  11. Volunteer or do something that gives you purpose
  12. Keep a journal of your experience
  13. Travel - this is a great time to get out.  If you are working with a senior move manager,  you really can let go of control.
  14. Make a list of the 10 things you want to do or places you want to visit and start checking them off the list.
  15. Create a new identity. Think of it like moving to a new city or starting college.  Not many people know who you are. Reinvent yourself.  Have a hat collection you’ve never worn…take them out and start wearing them.
  16. Don’t be afraid to ask for help - whether it’s from a professional or a loved one.  It makes people feel good to be able to help others.
  17. Get plenty of rest.
  18. Read a book you've always wanted to read.
  19. Sort through old photos.  (We offer scanning services and can get them digitized so they can be preserved and easily shared with loved ones.)
  20. Volunteer
